Future Solving Podcast Launch
The first episode of my new weekly podcast called Future Solving is out now, and who better to start with than Rita McGrath?
Why this podcast, why now?
I’m launching this podcast because we’re taught in school and at work to solve problems and leave things a little better than we found them, but there are almost no resources for people who want to go beyond solving problems to setting a vision and solving for a bold & achievable future for their life, their team, their organization, their ecosystem, or their market.
Because most people believe the future is something to be predicted or a problem to be solved, but I believe the future is more like an equation, where we determine the world we want to live in and solve for it: with vision, strategy, and bold leadership.
I believe the future is more like an equation, where we determine the world we want to live in and solve for it: with vision, strategy, and bold leadership.
I am solving for a future where anyone can become like the leaders and visionaries we all admire, because we all have ideas about creating a better future, but how do you get others to show up in the room, to make the decisions, invest the actual dollars, and do the work?
THAT is Future Solving.

Episode 1: Rita McGrath on Strategy in the era of AI
Rita McGrath is one of the world’s foremost experts on strategy & innovation. She’s a strategy professor at Columbia Business School, and a longtime member of the Thinkers50 list, where she has consistently ranked among the top 10 management thinkers in the world.
Rita and I sat down together and discussed:
How to think about the term AI Strategy and the term strategy itself
The history of disruption
The great modern tragedy of management thinking and academia
Whether we still have visionary leaders (and how to cultivate a more visionary mindset)
How Rita would help one of the top AI companies win if given full rein
How she would reinvent Hollywood if she were named CEO of a major studio
and so much more.
We were able to produce this episode in partnership with Thinkers50 at Guildhall in London. Thank you to Mikko Leskelä, Stuart Crainer, & Des Dearlove for your partnership.
How to get involved?
I only have one ask: that if you listen to the podcast and find it useful or enjoyable, share it with someone else you think might enjoy it.
Thanks for reading,
Brian
